SAM I AM
Born and raised on a farm in mid-Missouri, Sam will always have a soft spot for the heartland. He's a self-taught filmmaker with a degree in marketing from the University of Missouri.
His DP commercial work for Ralph Lauren was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick and was an Official Nominee at the Berlin Commercial Festival. His most recent cinematography work for the digital series We’re Doing Good premiered at SXSW in 2022 with additional screenings at HollyShorts, SeriesFest and Broad Humor Film Festival where it won Best Web Series.
His first short film as director/cinematographer, it was good talking to you, won Best Documentary Short at the DOC LA Film Fest and a Bronze Award at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards. His first documentary feature, To Love The Void, premiered at Brooklyn Film Festival in 2023. His most recent documentary work, The Last Carnival, screened at DOC NYC, Seattle International and DOC FEST.
Sam’s first feature film as cinematographer, In the Wake of Ire, won Best Cinematography at the CHAIN NYC Film Fest, Best American Spectrum Feature at INDY Film Fest and the Programmer’s Choice Award at Magnolia Independent Film Festival. Additionally, his work has screened at various film festivals around the country, including Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, Breck Film Festival, Burbank International Film Festival, Pasadena International Film Festival, ScreamFest Horror Film Festival and FilmQuest.
